If it's July we must be in Tennessee or NC or maybe Virginia

Sorry for the delay in getting the Travels with a Muse. Lack of Internet connection is a real pain and even Scrabble Queen is having withdrawals but we should be ok for the next few days.

As we pulled into the Misty Mountain Campground, Virginia near Monticello a bike rider was leaving on his recumbent bike.

There was a nice creek that ran through the park. The girls liked feeding the fish stale bread from the bridge I took this picture from.

We stayed at Misty Mountain for two nights the 1st & 2nd of July. The night of the 1st we were surrounded by a tremendous lightning storm we heard a lot and saw a great deal of light from the distance but we ended up with very little rain.

The 2nd of July we left for Asheville, North Carolina and the Folk Arts Museum, well worth seeing. It's just off the Blue Ridge Parkway and amazing road to drive but more suited for a Ferrari not the Musemoblie. The architecture was very interesting ....

...... and the exhibits top notch

The 3rd we headed for the Mecca of "down home" living Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge. The girls and Matthew took off on the 4th for a horseback ride .....

in a beautiful mountain setting

complete with flying pigs

After riding they took in some miniature golf (the second biggest sport in the area after NASCAR) and then attacked the game room. That night across the field from our spot on the edge of the campground we watch the fire works display and celebrated the birth of our nation.

The fire works were visible that night in the same place we saw this sunset. It makes me wonder how we miss so many special things in our lives looking for the flash instead of the things that really make life worthwhile.
