The Three Capes Scenic drive includes Cape Kiwanda, Cape Lookout and the farthest North is Cape Mears.
The colorful information Kiosk lets you know what you might see as you tour the grounds ...
... But it didn't tell me what this little furry creature was I knew it wasn't a bear or mountain lion.
It's an easy stroll down to the lighthouse...
... and because of the cliffs on either side of the walk to the lighthouse a fence was installed to keep stray children and pets from making a disastrous mistake....
...they did put in a couple of lookout points along the trail for photographers and and regular tourists to see the sights along the cape...
... but even the trees that block the view...
... have their own beauty...
... and protection from the wind...
... when you can see from the lookout points you can see ...
... Common Murre's bobbing up and down in the Pacific...
... or you can see Cormorants nesting on the cliffs...
... or waves crashing into watery caves...
... and Cow Parsnip a perfect plant to highlight and cliff.
The goal at the end of the path and end of Cape Mears is the Lighthouse...
... and along the way I saw pretty flowers...
... nesting birds...
... a skull island ...
... and an island that looked like a kneeling Elephant looking to the right...
... and from these high cliffs...
... I could see amazing places in the Pacific Ocean.
All in all this is an amazing place..
With a great lighthouse and is the reason we have State and National parks.
Quote of the Day ~ “The nation behaves well if it treats its natural resources as assets which it must turn over to the next generation increased, and not impaired, in value.” ~ Theodore Roosevelt
