California and Family and some hot days

I'm not saying it was hot when we arrived in Redding, California but it was very hot!!! 104

It was so hot the vacant fields had their own Fire Plugs.

When we arrived it was off to the pool and watching Christian and his "Hulk" floaties

Plus a little ball throwing - nice to swim when its 105 outside.

Jason had a great floating car to drive.

Even Sharyn got into the swim of things.

Sharyn had fun pushing Samantha on her Yellow and purple Dino...

Well I had to get a shot of the colorful trees by the pool.

Steven even got into the pool for some fun.

Then he was mobbed by the kids.

The next day we went out for pizza and were thankful for Steven and Martha's minivan.

We wen to Mike's Pizza on the main drag of Angels Camp, CA

I even got a shot of the Napkin dispenser to feed my artistic side.

I went outside to get a shot of the store next door called Cherokee Flat.

The building marker set the date the building was erected.

Food came and Samantha and Christian dug in.

Davis was waiting for his share of the food.

Samantha had a big smile after lunch and ...

... we went outside for a family portrait with the Giant Pizza frog

On the way to the town of Columbia we went by the Serbian Orthodox church on Main street in Angels Camp.

New Melones Lake is formed on the Stanislaus River.

"The lake is located in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range at approximately 1,100 feet above sea level. The New Melones Dam is 60 miles (96 km) upstream from the confluence of the San Joaquin and Stanislaus Rivers, 40 miles east of Stockton, and approximately 125 miles east of San Francisco."

Robinson Ferry used to cross the river here. The marker reads:

"In 1848 John W. Robinson and Stephen Mead established ferry transport for freight, animals and persons across river. In 1856 Harvey Wood purchased interest and later acquired property which was maintained by Wood Family until 1911. Charges were 50 cents for each passenger, horse, jenny or other animal. "

Christian had been licking a blue sucker and posed to show the result.

Handsome David and beautiful Samantha posed on the rock wall for a picture.

We were almost to Columbia, California and would also visit Mark Twain's Cabin where he wrote of the Jumping Frog of Calivaris County. Next blog will have some pictures of the Old town.

PS it was 109 when I took this picture. Way too hot.

Scrabble Score Scrabble Queen 324 the contender 318
