Yaquina Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area

Before going to see Yaquina Head Lighthouse (Oregon's Tallest Lighthouse) we stopped at Isaac & Julia's hotel where I saw this kite flying high...

and this view up the coast toward the lighthouse.

The first sight at the lighthouse was the beautiful black sand cove...

Pigeon Guillemot birds were nesting in the cove...

... and they are lovely birds with bright orange feet snd mouths...

...and the heads look amazingly like a pigeon but they are actually in the Puffin family.

The view south from the lighthouse is breathtaking...
 and the lighthouse is wonderful....
 ... and something to behold.
Everything about this area is outstanding from these trees in a field...

 to the rocky shore...

... to the colony of Common Murre covering the rocks below...

...where the Murre with blazing blue throats (also in the same family as the  Guillemot) hold court...

...but not holding court over this guy - the Bald Eagle - looking out from the trees in the field...

... as majestic an animal as ever existed and this was a very huge Eagle.

Not sure which weed or should I say plant is but I liked how they looked.

Thought of the Day “He smiled the most exquisite smile, veiled by memory, tinged by dreams.”
~ Virginia Woolf, "To the Lighthouse"
