Charleston, North Bend, Coos Bay and Shore Acres

This was a little three day trip to the coast and we started in Charleston, Oregon at the Charleston Marina RV Park. Pete came to visit with a friend the first day and on the second day we took a drive starting with Qualman Oyster Farms in Charleston where I strolled to the shore for a picture...

... and then got a picture of the mountain of oyster shells.

Across the road I got a picture of Charlie Tuna ...

... and another of the welcome sign going into Charleston.

After moving t the Mill Casino in North Bend our next photo shoot was at Shore Acres State Park and a great view of the Pacific Coast from the Observation building...

that was beautiful for it's rugged and weathered rocks...

... and secluded inlets.

On the trail I took to the gardens I stopped for a picture of these interesting brown mushrooms.

Inside the garden I started with a view of one of the four clusters of Dahlia gardens...

.. but then it was up close t these great flowers...

... that come in many colors and shapes...

 ... and sizes...

 ... bit all were beautiful...

 ...and amazing.

I liked this one a bunch...

...but this one was stunning and very delicate.

These are not Dahlias and I'm not sure what they are but I call them Doughboy flowers for the puffy shape ...
... and they come in several colors.

I would be remiss to ignore these red roses one of the annuals in great supply here or ...

... the pavilion where carolers serenaded us a few years ago at the holiday exhibition.

Today we walked along the new North Bend Boardwalk...

... enjoying the view
... taking pictures of everything from a boat at the dock...

... to old pier pilings ...

...ending at the far end where a little spit of land jutted into Coos Bay.

We took one more drive to explore an area we had never beet to before and saw a very inventive election reminder to vote for Scott Roberts for State Senate (this is no endorsement) and is a Republican although I couldn't find that on his web site.
One cool thing we saw in the inlet was this tiny island that seemed t be flourishing. All in all it's been a very nice trip to one of our many favorite place in Oregon.

Quote of the Day ~ "I don't like formal gardens. I like wild nature. It's just the wilderness instinct in me, I guess."  ~ Walt Disney --- But Walt never saw a formal garden in the middle of a forest on the coast like Shore Acres.
