Middlebury & Otter Creek

I found this beautiful blue flower on our last trip in Vermont with Jim and Doreen...

... while Jim was looking at the falls from the foot bridge over Otter Creek.

We made reservations at "The Storm Cafe" ...

... located on the other side of this great stone building called Frog Hollow Mill.

There were some sweet pansies in the planter...

... and guests enjoying a leisurely lunch when we arrived...

... and a straw hat on the hat rack outside...

The setting is perfect and the lunch was terrific...

...and the iced tea was good to the last drop.

Even the dandelions looked perfect...

... as did this little blue pea...

...and this native just beginning to bloom.

There were some bushes next to the creek that had a great blue/green color...

... and even an orange flower that looked similar (but not the same) to the tiger lilies in Oregon.

On our walk to the main street of Middlebury we passed a blooming Dahlia...

... and found an alley on the other side of town.

There are falls here and this is a view from the bridge above the falls.

Middlebury is a lovely New England jewel with lots of nice shops and picturesque old buildings like this church.

I like the Dixie Chicks and really liked this poster from their "Top of the World" tour appearance in Buffalo June 13, 2003

Red flowers are hard for me to capture with a camera but I liked the results here...

...and this picture I call "Not your average dummies"

There was a wedding photo shoot across the street and the women in the wedding looked happy and beautiful.

A library ad?

Did I ever mention I enjoy taking pictures of flowers?

The waterfalls here are not giant or high but they are wonderful to see.

I took the next few pictures where the city is building a park in the Marble Works complex.

I didn't read the poster but Jim did and the project sounds really nice and will develop a perfect place to relax, shop, dine and view the falls.

Middlebury built the city over the falls and this view reminds me of the title of a movie I really liked called "A River Runs Through It." Ti is a story of brothers and fly fishing and how divergent lives can carry a bond and common thread that is very special.

There were even flowers to light up the falls.

I found it fascinating looking at the bridge and the shape of the building on the left and understanding the river/creek will prevail over time.

I did get a picture of a beautiful Cedar Waxwing from the footbridge but missed the Kingfisher Jim got a great shot of at almost the same time.

I would love to come back to Middlebury soon ...

and count again the bolts on this section of the footbridge...

... but I doubt this abandoned suitcase at the base of the bridge will still be here...

... perhaps the question mark will survive...

... it's notoriety after this photo shoot...

...and the glob of orange stuff will still look like a banana slug...

...and the tree swing will still be hanging around...

... but the only thing that matters is that we can spend more time with our dear friends Jim and Doreen.

No Scrabble - Touring Washington D.C. today wore us out (pictures to come soon)

Quote of the Day ~
"Nobody sees a flower -- really -- it is so small it takes time -- we haven't time -- and to see takes time, like to have a friend takes time." ~ Georgia O'Keeffe
