June 2nd and I was awake for sunrise in Rock Springs, Wyoming.

The painted hill across from our campsite looked like the painted desert simple and beautiful but a common sight in this area so there were no markers or tourists standing around looking

As we drove over Interstate 80 to enter the freeway eastbound the ruts of a dirt road ahead going over the hill into a valley caught me eye. It was a wavy tan line bisecting the dark green hill and the combination of colors and surreal shape was like a less colorful Salvador Dali painting

As we drove along the interstate we passed a watering hole complete with shade trees huddled together in one spot to take a drink of water and live their lives, on a plain almost devoid of any living thing higher that the sage brush. These were the kings of the prairie that all the natives, trappers, and settlers loved to see. I'm sure when passing they would set up camp for the day to remember that shade and trees were common elsewhere.

This is severely cold country in the winter and the snow fences were in place all along the interstate to keep the blowing snow in the fields and off of the interstate. Judging by the signs along the interstate it was impossible to hold back the snow all of the time. Near every big town along the way there were signs stating that if the lights were flashing it meant the road was closed ahead. Scrabble queen took this picture more for the herd of pronghorn sitting around the fence and probably wondering why we ever decided to put this often closed road in the middle of their range.

Sunset in Laramie and as you can see some rain was nearby though it rain after I took this picture (at least where we were) but may come back later.

A little later as we were starting our game of scrabble for the night I shot this out the window of our musemobile as the sky caught fire.
